Engineering Service Company (ESC) was founded on a tradition of public service, technical excellence, and earned leadership. From its origins in municipal engineering to its present-day leadership, ESC's history reflects continuity, integrity, and a deep understanding of the public approval process. For more than seven decades, ESC has served Colorado communities by combining technical expertise with a commitment to quality, professionalism, and lasting client relationships.

Co-Founder. Licensed Professional Land Surveyor and Professional Civil Engineer in Colorado. Former City Engineer for the City of Aurora, Chairman of the Aurora Board of Adjustment for Zoning and Building, and Chamber of Commerce Engineer for CDOT. During World War II he provided surveying and engineering design for Camp Hale, the training facility for the 10th Mountain Division, completing the project ahead of schedule. He was recognized as a Civilian on the Home Front and honored at the National World War II Memorial. Following the war, he co-founded Engineering Service Company on Montview Boulevard in Aurora, engineering numerous projects including what is now the City of Northglenn. He remained active with ESC until retiring from in-office activities in the late 1970s.

Co-Founder (Early Years). Eagle Scout with Three Palms, U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Missouri as an underwater demolition diver, and graduate of the University of Denver in Civil Engineering. After serving as a Building Inspector for the City of Aurora in 1953, he co-founded ESC with Jim Larsh. Wilder left ESC in 1955 and went on to serve as Assistant Regional Administrator for HUD, Director of Community Development for Denver under Mayor William McNichols, and later with Denver Water as its first Conservation Officer and Principal Lobbyist.

Principal. Licensed Professional Land Surveyor and Professional Engineer. Civil Engineering graduate of the University of Denver. Began his career with the U.S. Geological Survey, helping create early maps of remote regions. Former City Engineer for the City of Aurora and two-term member of the Colorado House of Representatives. Joined ESC upon incorporation in 1969 and contributed to the firm's growth before departing a few years later.

Principal. Licensed Professional Land Surveyor. Civil Engineering graduate of Colorado A&M College (now Colorado State University), U.S. Air Force officer, former Director of Public Works for the City of Aurora, and instrumental in the design and completion of Homestake Reservoir. Joined ESC upon its incorporation in 1969. Following Edward Newman's departure, Red Miller and Jim Larsh continued leading the firm. While with ESC, he also served on the Aurora City Council.

Joined ESC in 1978 and advanced from Surveying Draftsman to Project Surveyor, Project Survey Manager, and ultimately Principal and Owner in 1989. Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in 1991, Mr. Miller led the firm's survey operations, technology, personnel, and strategic growth for more than three decades. Throughout his tenure as Principal and Owner, he successfully guided Engineering Service Company through two challenging economic periods, including the downturn of the late 1980s and the nationwide financial crisis of 2008-2009. His steady leadership, sound business decisions, and commitment to both employees and clients helped ESC navigate each downturn and continue moving forward. Mr. Miller retired in 2025 after 47 years with Engineering Service Company. In retirement, he has enjoyed renovating his new home, motorcycle trips, spending time at his mountain cabin, and making memories with his family.

Joined ESC in 1979 following service as a Peace Corps Engineer in Nepal. A licensed Professional Civil Engineer, he managed hundreds of residential, commercial, industrial, and civic projects. In 1989, Mr. Addor and Brett L. Miller assumed ownership of Engineering Service Company, succeeding James "Jim" Larsh and Hayward "Red" Miller, Jr. as Principals and Owners of the firm. Mr. Addor remained an owner until 2012 and continued serving Engineering Service Company until his retirement in 2020. Following his retirement, he devoted more of his time to volunteer work and traveling the world.

Joined ESC in 1996 as a Draftsman and Engineering Technician. He helped elevate the company's drafting standards, network infrastructure, and CAD production processes before advancing to Project Manager and Partner (2001-2004). Ryan's partnership with ESC concluded in 2004. Following his time with the firm, he returned to his native Hawaii, where he contributed to significant engineering projects before continuing his engineering career in California and later Arizona, further honing his engineering skills.
